### R. Kelly's Daughter Alleges Childhood Abuse in New Docuseries

In a shocking revelation, Buku Abi, daughter of the controversial musician R. Kelly, has publicly accused her father of sexually abusing her during her childhood. This startling claim was made in the recently premiered docuseries, "R. Kelly's Karma: A Daughter's Journey," which aired on the TVEI streaming network.

Abi, now 26, recalls the ordeal that she alleges began when she was merely 8 or 9 years old. Detailing her experience, she shared that she was too terrified to confide in anyone, including her mother, Andrea Kelly. "He was my everything. For a long time, I didn't even want to believe that it happened," Abi stated in the documentary, as reported by People. "I was too scared to tell my mom."

She described waking up to her father touching her and, in her confusion and fear, pretending to be asleep. Abi finally mustered the courage to inform her mother of the alleged abuse in 2009, at the age of 10. Subsequently, they approached the police to file a complaint under a Jane Doe alias. Unfortunately, she lamented that the delay in reporting the incident resulted in an inability to press charges. "They couldn't prosecute him because I waited too long. So at that point in my life, I felt like I said something for nothing," she said.

R. Kelly's legal representative, Jennifer Bonjean, has robustly denied these allegations. In a statement to the Cut, Bonjean asserted that R. Kelly "vehemently denies" the accusations from his daughter and cited a previous investigation by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, prompted by similar charges from his ex-wife, which concluded as unfounded.

The embattled musician is currently incarcerated, serving sentences for a series of federal crimes, including producing child pornography, coercing minors into sexual acts, racketeering, sex trafficking, bribery, and sexual abuse. In 2019, following the release of the "Surviving R. Kelly" documentary, Abi openly disowned her father. She expressed her anguish in a statement, saying, "To the people who feel that I should be speaking up / against everything is going on right now, I just want you all to understand that devastated is an understatement for what I feel currently... I grew up in that house."
