Country singer Morgan Wallen found himself in trouble with the law on Sunday night as he was arrested on felony charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. The arrest came after Wallen allegedly threw a chair off the sixth-story roof of a popular bar in Nashville.
Wallen, known for his record-breaking country music career, was fully cooperative with authorities, according to his attorney, Worrick Robinson. After being released from jail, Wallen is awaiting the resolution of his case.
Multiple witnesses reportedly saw Wallen pick up a chair and toss it off the roof of Chief's Bar, a new establishment on Nashville's bustling Broadway street. The chair landed just 3ft away from two police officers who were on the street below. Witnesses claim that Wallen laughed after throwing the chair.
Following the arrest, Wallen was charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct. He posted a bond of $15,250, securing his release from custody in the early hours of the morning.
Wallen is tentatively scheduled to appear in court on May 3rd, sandwiched between his performances at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on May 2nd and 3rd.
The 30-year-old singer has been enjoying success on his sold-out One Night at a Time tour. His latest album, released in March 2023, has garnered millions of streams and remained at the top of the Billboard 200 for an unprecedented duration since the Titanic soundtrack in 1998.
However, Wallen has faced controversy in the past. In 2021, he was captured using a racial slur, resulting in his suspension by his record label and other temporary setbacks. Wallen apologized publicly and sought help for personal issues, ultimately returning to the public eye and receiving awards such as the Academy of Country Music award for male artist of the year.
Despite a delay due to vocal fold trauma, Wallen launched the 2024 leg of his One Night at a Time tour on April 4th in Indianapolis. The tour is set to continue throughout the spring and summer, visiting major North American cities like New York and Denver, before concluding on August 9th in Las Vegas.
