### Garth Brooks Faces Sexual Assault Lawsuit; Accuser Named in Legal Filing

Country music star Garth Brooks has identified the woman who accused him of sexual assault and battery, leading to a strong condemnation from her legal team. The hairstylist, who had previously worked for Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, initially filed a lawsuit under the pseudonym Jane Roe last week in Los Angeles County Superior Court. She accused Brooks of sexually assaulting her in a hotel room in 2019.

In her lawsuit, the woman alleged multiple incidents, including claims that Brooks purposely exposed himself to her, forced her to touch him, sent explicit text messages, and pressured her into sexting. In response, Brooks had filed a federal lawsuit against her on October 3 under the pseudonyms John Doe v. Jane Roe, accusing her of extortion and defamation. Brooks' complaint sought to prevent her from making her allegations public, claiming her accusations were fabricated and would severely damage his reputation, family, career, and livelihood.

However, Brooks amended his complaint on Tuesday to include both his name and that of his accuser. The woman's attorneys quickly responded, accusing Brooks of spitefully outing a rape victim without legal justification and pledging to seek the maximum sanctions against him.

HuffPost has chosen not to reveal the woman's identity, adhering to its policy of not naming alleged sexual assault victims unless they come forward voluntarily. According to her lawsuit, the alleged assault took place during a trip to Los Angeles in May 2019 for a Grammy tribute to musician Sam Moore. The woman claimed that Brooks had booked only one hotel suite and later cornered her, naked, in the bedroom doorway before assaulting her.

The lawsuit described the assault as "painful and traumatic," adding that Brooks at one point held her upside down and penetrated her. In his suit, Brooks stated that the woman had been facing financial difficulties and had initially received money from him out of loyalty and friendship. He claimed that after he refused her additional demands for salaried pay and benefits, she retaliated with false allegations.

Brooks’ attorneys have yet to comment on the decision to reveal her name, while Yearwood has shown her support for her husband with an Instagram post captioned "Love One Another."
