Strader was arrested in 2017 for reportedly burglarizing a former girlfriend's home. The woman claimed that upon returning from out of town, she discovered her room had been burglarized and an item, a necklace allegedly given to her by Strader, was missing. Around the same time, she filed for a restraining order against Strader, accusing him of violating it by sending her mail, calling her incessantly, and showing up at her doorstep.
Court records showed that Strader was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass and ordered to pay a fine, complete community service, and attend a decision-making program. Additionally, he was arrested for DWI in the same year. A source affiliated with "The Bachelor" franchise stated that despite their thorough vetting process, the protective order against Strader did not surface in their searches.
In response to the allegations, Strader denied any wrongdoing and clarified that the restraining order was never granted and was ultimately dismissed. He expressed regret for the misrepresentations and maintained that he has never mistreated anyone. Strader also addressed a video he posted regarding his former relationship with a contestant from the show, apologizing for any insensitive behavior. Despite being engaged to another contestant on the show, their relationship ended before the season's conclusion.
