In a heartbreaking turn of events, the co-worker and friend who was present when former "General Hospital" actor, Johnny Wactor, was shot and killed, has finally broken her silence. Anita Joy recently spoke with "Good Morning America" and shared the harrowing details of their final moments together.
Recalling the tragic incident, Joy revealed that everything happened in a split second, leaving her feeling utterly helpless. She vividly described how her whole being seemed to drop to her ankles upon witnessing the shocking turn of events. "There's nothing in my knowledge that I could have done aside from trying to give him support," she expressed.
On that fateful night, Joy and Wactor had completed their bartending shift in downtown Los Angeles around 3 a.m. It was during their walk to their respective cars that they encountered three masked individuals attempting to steal the catalytic converter from Wactor's vehicle. Joy recounted how she noticed a man on his knees with a jack under the car, seemingly innocently, until they realized the situation was far more sinister.
With a ski mask concealing his face, one of the suspects opened fire without warning when Wactor approached him. According to Joy, the 37-year-old actor was struck by a single gunshot, causing him to fly backwards towards her in sheer agony. "He just came flying backwards towards me," she sorrowfully shared.
Taking to Instagram later, Joy further opened up about the traumatic incident, revealing Wactor's response when she asked if he was alright: "Nope! Shot!" Those chilling words serve as a haunting reminder of the terrible loss endured by Wactor's friends, family, and fans.
The investigation into Johnny Wactor's fatal shooting is ongoing, with authorities actively pursuing leads to bring the culprits to justice. Loved ones continue to grieve the loss of a talented actor and a cherished human being, as they remember the wonderful person he was.
