Cleveland restaurateur Bobby George has turned himself in to face nine felony charges, including attempted murder, rape, kidnapping, felonious assault, and strangulation, according to Cleveland Municipal Court records. George, the owner of several popular Cleveland eateries and businesses such as Barley House, REBoL, TownHall, LYV The Wellness Space, and Green Goat Cafe Bar, was given a $200,000 bond in a court hearing on Tuesday morning. He later posted 10% of that bond, according to Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court records.

The charges against George were filed on Friday, August 9, and involve incidents alleged to have occurred between November 2023 and June 2024. The arrest warrant obtained by the FOX 8 I-Team reveals that George is accused of strangling a woman and physically assaulting her over the course of several hours in June. He allegedly kept her from escaping and eventually shoved a towel down her throat, leading to the attempted murder charge. The rape charge stems from an incident between May and July where George is accused of sexually assaulting the woman while holding her down.

Additional incidents detailed in the warrant include George throwing the woman into a closet on July 27 and pinning her down while holding his hands around her neck on November 14, 2023. These actions are said to have left the woman with blurred vision and caused her ears to bleed. The warrant also states that George prevented the woman from leaving the residence on multiple occasions, once holding a gun to her car window and demanding she exit the vehicle.

In court on Tuesday, George was questioned about the terms of the temporary protection order in place for the alleged victim. He was ordered to turn in his passport and post a bond of $200,000. Prosecutors had requested a high bond due to the serious nature of the charges.

George's attorney, Kevin Spellacy, has issued a statement denying the charges and expressing disappointment that they were filed without interviewing George or obtaining his version of events. Spellacy emphasized that his client denies the allegations "100 percent."

As the case unfolds, the Cleveland community awaits further developments in this high-profile legal matter involving one of the city's well-known restaurateurs.
