**Browns Sign Quarterback Shedeur Sanders to Four-Year Deal**
The Cleveland Browns have officially added Shedeur Sanders to their roster, inking the former Colorado star to a four-year rookie contract worth $4.6 million. Sanders, expected by many to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, surprisingly fell to the fifth round before being selected by the Browns.
Sanders is the fourth draftee to finalize a contract with Cleveland. The delay in his selection not only came as a surprise but also arguably cost him significantly in financial terms. Comparatively, many first-round draftees have already secured signing bonuses larger than Sanders' total contract value.
The quarterback finds himself in a competitive room in Cleveland. Among his new teammates are Dillon Gabriel, another QB from the 2025 draft, picked two rounds earlier, and Kenny Pickett, a recent trade acquisition, who is currently seen as the favorite for the starting job. Additionally, veteran quarterback Deshaun Watson is on the road to recovery from an Achilles injury.
Despite the unexpected fall in the draft, Sanders remains unperturbed and has expressed his excitement about joining the Browns. "I had a great interview and process with the Browns, which is why they picked me," Sanders shared. "Anything outside the organization doesn't matter to me now. This is my focus."
Adopting jersey No. 12 for the upcoming season, Sanders drew parallels between his journey and that of NFL legend Tom Brady, who also entered the league as a late-round pick. "I was a late-round draft pick. But we're here now, so none of that stuff matters. I'm just excited to be here and ready to work," Sanders remarked.
In his collegiate career, Sanders was instrumental in revitalizing Colorado's prominence in college football. In the 2024 season, he completed 353 of 477 passes, amassing 4,143 yards and 37 touchdowns—statistics that topped all quarterbacks in the Big 12 Conference. As he embarks on his professional journey, the Browns and their fans will be keenly watching how Sanders adapts and grows within the NFL.
