**Mass Exodus Amid Scandals in New York City Administration**

Philip Banks III, the deputy mayor for public safety and a prominent figure in Mayor Eric Adams' administration, resigned on Sunday night following a federal investigation that saw his home raided and his phone seized. This development is part of a broader wave of departures by top officials in the Adams' administration.

Among those who have stepped down are schools chancellor David Banks, who is Philip Banks' brother, and the chancellor's wife, First Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright. Police Commissioner Edward Caban and senior advisor Tim Pearson, who is also a close associate of both Adams and Philip Banks, have also left their positions. These resignations are occurring against the backdrop of serious allegations against Mayor Adams himself.

Mayor Adams was indicted last month on charges of bribery and campaign finance fraud, which is one of four ongoing federal investigations. Additionally, there is a concurrent inquiry by the Manhattan District Attorney examining campaign finance, city contracts, and other alleged misconduct.

Philip Banks' resignation was initially reported by The New York Post. This move arrived after increasing pressure from elected officials, including Governor Kathy Hochul, who has the authority to remove the mayor. These officials have been demanding that Adams distance himself from close associates currently under investigation.

In an interview with NY1 early Monday, Mayor Adams confirmed Banks' departure, marking another significant shift in his administration as it navigates these troubling allegations and investigations.
