**Christian McCaffrey Shows Promise in Return to Practice for 49ers**
In an encouraging update, running back Christian McCaffrey has made a return to the practice field for the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan reported during his Wednesday press conference that McCaffrey experienced no pain after participating in Monday's practice. Despite this positive progress, McCaffrey will remain limited in Wednesday's session. The 2023 AP Offensive Player of the Year has been sidelined all season due to bilateral Achilles tendinitis but is showing signs of potentially making his debut this weekend when the 49ers face off against the Buccaneers.
In other team news, the 49ers have opened the 21-day practice window for defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos, who is coming off the injured reserve list with a knee injury. Similar to McCaffrey, Gross-Matos will also be limited during Wednesday's practice as he works his way back to full fitness.
However, several other key players will be missing Wednesday's practice. Defensive lineman Kevin Givens is out with a groin injury, wide receiver Chris Conley is sidelined due to a hamstring issue, and cornerback Charvarius Ward will miss the session for personal reasons.
Additional players who will see limited action in practice include wide receiver Deebo Samuel (wrist), wide receiver Jauan Jennings (hip), kicker Jake Moody (ankle), offensive lineman John Feliciano (knee), and punter Mitch Wishnowsky (back).
The 49ers are hopeful that some of these players will recover promptly, as they prepare to challenge the Buccaneers. The team is focused on regaining full strength and driving towards a successful season.
