In a continuing battle, Kerri Kasem, the daughter of the late Casey Kasem, is determined to honor her father's final wish and bring his body back to Los Angeles. Casey Kasem, renowned internationally as the "King of the Top 40 Countdown," passed away in 2014 after a prolonged struggle with Lewy body dementia. However, his widow, actress Jean Kasem, had his body moved to Oslo, Norway, for burial, despite claims from other relatives and friends that Casey wanted to be laid to rest at the Forest Lawn cemetery in Los Angeles.

Kerri, who is also a radio host and the founder of the nonprofit organization Kasem Cares, advocates against elder abuse and isolation. Through her organization, she has successfully championed the passage of the "Visitation Bill" in 12 states, providing a legal avenue for family members to request visitation rights for their loved ones. The bill has also been adopted in a modified form by additional states.

While Kerri confirmed that there are currently no concrete plans to repatriate Casey's body, she remains resolute that it will happen in due course. She expressed her belief that Casey's true resting place is in the city he called home for 58 years. Kerri added that while Norway is a beautiful country, it is not where her father wished to be buried, causing a mix of emotions for her.

Jean Kasem and her attorney did not respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital. The ongoing feud between Casey's children and his second wife resulted in dueling lawsuits in 2019, alleging mistreatment and neglect before his death. Both sides eventually agreed to dismiss the wrongful death lawsuit and countersuit. The legal disputes had escalated over access to Casey's medical care and control of his affairs. Authorities in California and Washington found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing following investigations into Casey's treatment and death.

Kerri recently shared her emotionally charged visit to her father's grave in Oslo. She described a mixture of shaky emotions and a sense of peace upon arriving at the resting place. However, Kerri's ultimate sadness came from the fact that her father was buried in a place he did not wish to be. She believes that other family members and fans would like the opportunity to pay their respects at a burial site that aligns with Casey's final wishes.

Amidst the ongoing legal battles and family feuds, Kerri has channeled her pain into advocacy work. She highlighted the importance of passing legislation to protect vulnerable elders and ensure the presence of loved ones during difficult times. Kerri recalled her father's struggles with Lewy body dementia and how it prompted her to fight against the mistreatment and isolation that many families face.

As the founder of Kasem Cares, Kerri continues to receive letters from individuals experiencing similar family disputes over their aging parents. She remains dedicated to listening to their stories and offering support through her organization.

For Kerri, keeping her father's legacy alive is paramount. She firmly believes that Casey is still with her, citing instances of flickering lights and unexplained happenings in her home as signs of his presence. Kerri's unwavering belief and her organization's work serve as a testament to her enduring fight to honor her father's memory and make a positive impact in the lives of others facing similar challenges.
