**BYU Cross-Country Teams Triumph at Big 12 Championships**
In a remarkable display of athletic prowess, BYU's cross-country teams clinched both men's and women's titles at the Big 12 Conference championships held in Waco, Texas. The BYU squads proved their dominance, with the women's team living up to its No. 1 ranking and the men's team pulling off an upset against top-ranked Oklahoma State.
The BYU women's team, led by standout performances from Lexie Lowry, Riley Chamberlain, and Taylor Rohatinsky, secured its second consecutive conference championship. Lowry, Chamberlain, and Rohatinsky finished fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively, while Carmen Alder and Destiny Everett rounded out the top 13. West Virginia's Ceili McCabe won the race, but the collective strength of BYU's runners ensured the team finished with 41 points, ahead of West Virginia's 60 and Utah's 86. Utah, ranked sixth nationally, saw Erin Vringer finish in eighth place.
On the men's side, the Cougars achieved a significant victory by defeating defending national champions Oklahoma State. The BYU men's team, ranked No. 2 nationally, also scored 41 points, mirroring the women's team total. Senior Casey Clinger led the team with a third-place finish in the 8,000-meter race, clocking in at 22:08.2. He was closely followed by James Corrigan in seventh, Joey Nokes in eighth, Creed Thompson in 11th, and Lucas Bons in 12th. This tight grouping was enough to surpass Oklahoma State's 52 points and Iowa State's 62.
The competition featured a high-caliber field, including three of the top four ranked men's teams in the nation: Oklahoma State, BYU, and Iowa State. Both BYU teams are now setting their sights on the NCAA mountain regional, scheduled for November 15 in Reno, Nevada, which will be their final hurdle before the NCAA championships.
