### Von Miller Suspended for Four Games in Relation to Personal Conduct Violation

Buffalo Bills' defensive end Von Miller has been handed a four-game suspension without pay by the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy. The suspension, which was announced on Tuesday, means Miller will miss games against the Houston Texans, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks. He will be eligible to return after the Bills' Week 8 matchup against Seattle.

The disciplinary action arises from allegations that Miller assaulted his pregnant girlfriend in November 2023 during the Bills' bye week in suburban Dallas. The NFL has yet to clarify the specific details of the suspension to ESPN.

Miller turned himself in to the Glenn Heights Police Department on November 30, facing an arrest warrant for third-degree felony assault of a pregnant woman. He was briefly held at DeSoto Tri-City Jail before being released on a $5,000 bond. Throughout, Miller has steadfastly denied the accusations, labeling them as "100 percent false." By July 2024, Miller stated that the case was closed with no charges filed, although the NFL continued its own investigation.

An affidavit obtained by ESPN detailed that the alleged assault involved Miller placing a hand, and later both hands, on the woman's neck for several seconds while attempting to force her out of their shared apartment. The woman reportedly planned to call the police, prompting Miller to leave the scene. Upon arrival, police documented minor abrasions on the woman's hand and bruises on her neck, abdomen, and biceps.

Miller addressed the allegations for the first time in December 2023, expressing his dismay over the situation. He emphasized the seriousness of domestic violence globally and reassured that the allegations were false.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell indicated in March that placing Miller on the commissioner's exempt list was considered but ultimately deemed inappropriate based on the available facts. The commissioner's exempt list allows players to be excluded from the active roster under specific conditions determined by the commissioner.

This offseason, Miller restructured his contract with the Bills, saving the team $8.645 million in cap space. Miller, who joined the Bills in 2022 on a six-year deal, had previously served a six-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs in 2013. At 35, he plays a rotational role on the defensive line and has recorded three sacks this season. He participated in nine snaps during the Week 4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

In response to Miller's suspension, the Bills signed defensive tackle Zion Logue from the Atlanta Falcons practice squad.
