**Biden Administration to Bolster Ukraine Support in Final Days**

In the remaining 71 days of its term, the Biden administration is doubling down on its efforts to support Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict with Russia, according to National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan. Sullivan affirmed this stance on CBS’ "Face the Nation," emphasizing that the long-term strategy is to empower Ukraine both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.

"Our approach remains consistent, aimed at placing Ukraine in the most advantageous position both in combat and discussions," Sullivan told host Margaret Brennan. He highlighted that the decision on negotiating terms and timelines should rest solely with Ukraine, upholding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

This statement comes as President-elect Donald Trump has voiced intentions to promptly cut aid to Ukraine upon taking office. Trump has also made bold claims about ending the war initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin within a day, although he has yet to provide specifics on how he plans to achieve this. Adding fuel to the fire, Donald Trump Jr. recently posted an Instagram video mocking Ukraine.

Sullivan stressed the importance of continued support from the United States and its coalition of nations to help Ukraine defend against Russian aggression. He noted that President Joe Biden and Trump are scheduled for a critical meeting on Wednesday to address major domestic and international issues, including the situations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

By January 20, Biden aims to utilize all resources and aid allocated to Ukraine by Congress. Additionally, Biden plans to advocate for continuous support for Ukraine to the incoming administration, arguing that abandoning Ukraine could lead to greater instability in Europe and raise questions about America's commitments to allies in Asia.

Sullivan also touched on the broader geopolitical landscape, indicating that addressing interference from Russia in U.S. elections involves imposing stringent sanctions and pressures on Russia. When asked about the possibility of repercussions for Russia’s actions, he noted that the current support for Ukraine already imposes substantial costs on Russia.

Turning to the Middle East, Sullivan commented on potential shifts in American involvement under the forthcoming administration. He pointed out that Hamas is currently obstructing a ceasefire agreement with Israel in Gaza. He expects Israel to pursue a deal to secure its citizens, independent of American political motives, and anticipates progress in the coming weeks. The United States has also been actively engaging with the Israeli government regarding its conflict with Lebanon.

As the administration transitions, Biden seeks to uphold international alliances and ensure that the ongoing support for Ukraine and other global engagements remain robust.
