### Barbara Bush Supports Kamala Harris, Knocking Doors in Pennsylvania

Barbara Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, is actively campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic opponent of the current Republican administration. This move is notable given Bush's heritage; her father George W. Bush and grandfather George H.W. Bush were the last two Republican presidents before Donald J. Trump.

On Sunday, Ms. Bush was seen canvassing Bucks County, Pennsylvania, a critical swing area near Philadelphia. The Harris campaign highlighted her involvement and released a statement in which Ms. Bush expressed optimism about the election, emphasizing the importance of protecting women's rights. An image distributed by the campaign showed her smiling with a blue and white hat that read "Kamala."

Despite Barbara Bush's endorsement, her father, the 43rd president, has chosen not to support any presidential candidate. His spokesperson, Freddy Ford, confirmed this and stated that George W. Bush had no comment on his daughter’s decision.

Interestingly, Barbara Bush is not the only political figure from the previous Republican administration to back Harris. Former Vice President Dick Cheney has also endorsed her, and Liz Cheney, a former Republican representative from Wyoming, is one of the Harris campaign’s chief ambassadors to suburban Republicans.

The relationship between the Bush family and Donald Trump has been strained. During the contentious 2016 Republican primary, Trump often clashed with Jeb Bush, George W. Bush's brother, and criticized him publicly. Jeb Bush once labelled Trump a "jerk," while George H.W. Bush reportedly called him a "blowhard." The late Barbara Bush, former first lady, explicitly questioned how women could support Trump, citing his disparaging comments about women.

This support from Barbara Bush for a Democratic candidate portrays a significant shift and underscores the evolving dynamics within the Republican party. Her active role in Harris's campaign highlights the importance of women's rights in her political outlook and the widening ideological rift within her own familial political legacy.
