**Two Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident on Lake Grapevine**

In Grapevine, Texas, two individuals are now in custody following the tragic death of an 18-year-old kayaker during Memorial Day Weekend. The deceased, Ava Moore, was hit by a jet ski while kayaking at Lake Grapevine. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and the Grapevine Police Department disclosed the arrests but identified only one suspect, Daikerlyn Alejandra Gonzalez Gonzalez from Venezuela.

According to the Grapevine Police, Gonzalez Gonzalez struck Moore with the jet ski while accompanying another person, who remained at the scene of the accident. However, Gonzalez Gonzalez fled with an unidentified man. Efforts by witnesses and first responders to save Moore were unsuccessful, and she succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital.

In their attempt to evade capture, Gonzalez Gonzalez and her co-escapee collided with another vehicle. The police apprehended Gonzalez Gonzalez on Tuesday, though details about the man's arrest remain sparse. The Texas Attorney General's office referred to him as "another illegal."

Expressing his sorrow, Attorney General Ken Paxton stated, "Ava Moore's senseless death was caused by an illegal alien who should have never been in our country in the first place. My heart breaks for Ava's family and friends, and my prayers are with them as they face this tragedy. My office will continue to work with local, state, and national law enforcement partners to secure justice for Ava."

The Grapevine Police Department expressed gratitude to multiple agencies for their assistance in the investigation, including the Texas Attorney General's Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Dallas Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations.
