In a recent interview on "Fox & Friends," Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for choosing to do her first formal interview as the Democratic nominee for president alongside her running mate, Tim Walz, on a friendly network. Sanders questioned Harris' ability to handle an interview on her own, stating, "They know Kamala Harris can't get through an interview all by herself. There is not a lot of confidence in somebody to become the leader of the free world and ask people to make her president of the United States when she can't even sit down [for] an interview."
CNN announced that anchor Dana Bash would be conducting a joint interview with Harris and Walz, set to be broadcast on Thursday evening. This marks the first formal interview that Harris has given to the press since President Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed her as his successor. Sanders viewed this move as an admission of Harris' unpreparedness to handle an interview independently, stating, "She should take this opportunity to show the American people that she can handle hard questions. It's clear that her own team, in her own party, think she needs a babysitter, and that's why they're putting her vice presidential nominee on the stage with her so that he can step in and answer questions if things go like the clips we just saw, like she has done in previous interviews."
Sanders pointed out that as vice president, Harris had avoided media interviews for almost a year following a "disastrous" interview with NBC's Lester Holt. During that interview, she failed to articulate the Biden-Harris administration's strategy for securing the border, according to a New York Times report. Sanders highlighted the contrast between Harris and former President Trump, emphasizing Trump's record of success in areas such as the economy, border security, and global influence. She stated, "Donald Trump has a record of success, of leading on things like building a strong American economy, securing our border, helping us have a strong presence on the world stage. While on the other hand, Kamala Harris has been part of an administration of total failure."
Sanders also referred to the endorsements of former Democrats Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, who recently joined Trump's campaign and transition team. She argued that even former Democrats do not believe Harris is capable of leading the country, stating, "She was the laughingstock of the Biden administration just a few months ago, and now the hypocrisy is so unbelievable. They want us to believe that they truly think that she can take this job on."
In conclusion, Governor Huckabee Sanders criticized Vice President Harris for choosing to do a joint interview with her running mate, suggesting that it reflects her inability to handle tough questions on her own. Sanders highlighted the contrast between Harris and former President Trump, emphasizing his record of success and Harris' association with an administration she deems a failure. With prominent Democrats endorsing Trump and questioning Harris' abilities, Sanders believes Trump is the prepared leader the country needs.
