An Arizona man is currently being sought by authorities as an investigative lead for making threats to kill a presidential candidate. The Cochise County Sheriff's Office announced on Thursday that they had been made aware of threatening statements posted on social media by the individual, identified as Ronald Syvrud, directed towards a candidate.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Syvrud has outstanding warrants related to DUI charges, felony hit and run, and failing to register as a sex offender. The sheriff's office issued a public release urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact local law enforcement or dial 9-1-1.

Although it is unclear from the notification which presidential candidate is the subject of the threats, it is worth noting that former President Donald Trump is currently in Cochise County, delivering remarks at the United States-Mexico border. A developing story, CNN has reached out to local law enforcement for additional details.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is taking these threats seriously and actively working to locate and apprehend Syvrud. The case emphasizes the potential consequences of making threatening statements towards political figures, highlighting the importance of maintaining safety and security in the midst of ongoing political activities.
