### Argentinian President Condemns UN Agenda in Fiery Speech
In his inaugural speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Argentinian President Javier Milei criticized the organization, accusing it of deviating from its original mission and pushing an overreaching ideological agenda.
Milei's remarks, translated by Reuters, depicted the UN as a "Leviathan with multiple tentacles" that now seeks to dictate the lives of global citizens and control nation-states. He lamented that the organization had transitioned from a body that championed peace to one that imposes ideologies on its members.
Central to Milei's criticism was the UN's controversial "Pact for the Future," a comprehensive policy initiative spearheaded by Secretary-General António Guterres. This pact was unveiled during the Summit for the Future, which signifies this year's high-level week for the General Assembly. Milei labeled the pact as "twisted" and misguided, arguing that it strays from the principles established in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Argentinian leader did not shy away from condemning the UN's role during the COVID-19 pandemic and its apparent tolerance of dictatorial regimes such as Venezuela, which he noted sits on the Human Rights Council without any criticism. He urged countries of the "free world" to reject the pact and support a new agenda focused on freedom.
Milei's stance drew approval from notable figures, including Israel's returning Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, who praised him as a "true friend of the State of Israel." During his speech, Milei also criticized countries that "punish their women just for showing their skin" while opposing Israel, which he described as the sole defender of liberal democracy in the Middle East.
Concluding his address, Milei warned that the present UN agenda might lead to failure and urged members to reconsider the organization's path. He stressed that when leftist ideas fail, the result is often repression and a loss of freedom. Reflecting on Argentina's own experiences, Milei depicted a grim picture of "poverty, anarchy, and a total lack of liberty" as the fallout of misguided policies.
In closing, he emphasized, "Long live freedom, damn it! Thank you very much."
