In a recent episode of SoFi's "Richer Lives" podcast, Amanda Kloots, co-host of "The Talk" and wife of the late Nick Cordero, shared the staggering financial burden she faced during his hospitalization due to COVID-19 complications. Kloots revealed that Cordero's prolonged stay in the hospital, which lasted for 95 days, resulted in astronomical medical bills.

Recalling the gravity of the situation, Kloots explained that Cordero's entire body relied on machines to function. The cost of the ventilator alone, which was one of the 20 devices supporting his vital functions, amounted to approximately $3,000 per day. These mounting expenses left Kloots overwhelmed and unsure of how she would manage to cover the costs.

The reality of the financial implications only truly set in for Kloots after Cordero's passing in July 2020. She admitted, "I never thought I was going to lose my husband. Until the day he passed away, I really thought he was going to make it." The shock and grief compounded with the sudden influx of calls and bills, highlighting the stark reality that even in the face of tragedy, death is still a business.

Adding to the immense burden, Kloots revealed that it took almost a year and a half for her to receive the "huge" medical bill for her husband's hospital stay. The delay in receiving the bill served as a painful reminder of their journey and the financial challenges she now faced alone.

Further complicating matters, Kloots shared that she and Cordero had never discussed what to do in the event of their deaths. The absence of a plan left Kloots confronting financial uncertainties on top of her devastating loss.

Throughout Cordero's hospitalization, Kloots kept their dedicated fan base updated on his progress. She shared the news that he had to undergo a right leg amputation in April 2020. Subsequently, in June 2020, Kloots revealed that the Tony nominee had lost 65 pounds while battling the illness. And just a month later, she expressed that he may require a double lung transplant.

The couple, who tied the knot in September 2017 and welcomed their son Elvis in June 2019, faced a harrowing journey that ended tragically.

Amanda Kloots' candid revelation about the financial struggles she faced during Nick Cordero's hospitalization shines a light on the immense burden that medical expenses can place on families. It serves as a reminder of the economic challenges that accompany serious illnesses, and the importance of planning for such eventualities.
