Alex Cooper, the host of the popular podcast "Call Her Daddy," recently featured an unusual guest for her show: Vice President Kamala Harris. Cooper, known for her candid discussions on sex, dating, and relationships, decided to venture into political territory by interviewing Harris. The decision to host the Vice President came amid much internal debate, as Cooper disclosed in the introduction of the episode. Her intention, she stated, was not to sway political affiliations but rather to discuss issues about women, a pressing subject in the upcoming election.

The episode ignited a wave of reactions on social media. Some of Cooper's regular listeners accused her of spreading Democratic Party talking points, while others criticized Harris for opting for "safe" interview venues instead of tougher mainstream media engagements. Harris' appearance was part of a busy media week for her, with planned interviews on Howard Stern, Stephen Colbert, and "The View," as she ramps up campaigning ahead of the November 5 general election.

"Call Her Daddy" has garnered a vast following since its inception in 2018, particularly among young women. Initially co-created by Cooper and Sofia Franklyn, the podcast has evolved to also address current events and features interviews with high-profile celebrities such as Hailey Bieber, Jane Fonda, Gwyneth Paltrow, Janelle Monáe, and John Legend. Cooper herself became the highest-paid female podcast host globally, thanks to a $60-million deal with Spotify.

During the interview, Cooper and Harris discussed various topics, including women's rights, the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, sexual abuse in the U.S., and the value and treatment of women's bodies in the country. Harris praised Cooper for her genuine and communicative style, recognizing the podcast's unique ability to connect listeners in a meaningful way.

Prior to the interview, Cooper traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet Harris, receiving 40 minutes of face-to-face time with the Vice President. No topics were off-limits as Cooper prepared multiple versions of the interview covering areas like the economy, border control, and fracking. Ultimately, Cooper stuck to issues she felt most equipped to discuss—those concerning women's bodies and treatment in the country.

In an effort to provide a balanced viewpoint, Cooper's team extended an invitation to former President Trump for a similar interview. Cooper emphasized that if Trump wanted to engage in a meaningful discussion about women's rights, he would be welcome on "Call Her Daddy."

Following the release of the episode, reactions continued to pour in. While some fans expressed disappointment and vowed to unfollow the podcast, others rallied in Cooper's defense, pointing out her consistent advocacy for women's rights and reproductive justice.

Reflecting on the experience in a "Get Ready With Me" video on Instagram, Cooper admitted she never envisioned her podcast leading to an interview with the Vice President. She expressed a mix of excitement and nervousness, acknowledging that while not everyone would agree with her, she remained true to the spirit of "Call Her Daddy."
