Alabama football's Saturday scrimmage may have been shorter than their first of the offseason, but it was described as the most physical by head coach Kalen DeBoer since his arrival in Tuscaloosa. With 94 plays, down from 102, the intensity on the field resulted in a few players sustaining injuries.

Running back Jam Miller, who had been wearing a black non-contact jersey during practices since the first scrimmage, did not participate in the scrimmage. Coach DeBoer explained that Miller was "dinged up a week ago," but reassured that he could have played if necessary, emphasizing the team's priority to be cautious and smart about player wellbeing.

Several other players were also spotted not fully participating in practice drills this week. Offensive linemen Tyler Booker and Olaus Alinen, linebacker Jihaad Campbell, and running backs Kevin Riley and Richard Young were among those managing their injuries. However, Coach DeBoer assured that none of the injuries appeared to be major, and he expects them to return to practice later in the week.

Despite concerns about player availability, DeBoer maintained a positive outlook, stating that the team "got through relatively healthy." He acknowledged that a couple of players might miss a few practices, but he anticipates having the necessary personnel ready for the season opener against Western Kentucky on August 31.

Among the injured players, offensive guard Jaeden Roberts, who occupies a spot on the first team, suffered a setback. However, DeBoer provided reassurance that Roberts would be available to play in the season opener, emphasizing that he wouldn't miss any game time.

As preseason camp continues, Alabama football remains focused on their upcoming season. The Crimson Tide, under the guidance of Coach DeBoer, will continue their preparations, eager to make a strong start against Western Kentucky on August 31 in Tuscaloosa.
