In a heartbreaking development, Kierston Russell, the twin sister of Alabama freshman quarterback Keelon Russell, has passed away. Tuscaloosa police affirmed her death on Wednesday and noted that it currently seems to be non-criminal in nature. The family granted permission to confirm her passing to mitigate media speculation.

"We extend our sincere condolences to the Russell family during this incredibly difficult time," officials from the Tuscaloosa Police Department said, adding that no additional details would be disclosed and requested respect for the family's privacy.

Keelon Russell, who recently began his journey with Alabama football, expressed his grief on social media with a poignant message. He reposted a statement on Instagram featuring heart-shaped hand emojis and a message offering deep condolences, highlighting the unimaginable pain of losing a twin sister and daughter.

Both Kierston and Keelon had recently celebrated their high school graduation together in Duncanville, Texas. Kierston was set to join her brother at Alabama in August. Keelon, who had enrolled early, had already started his training with the team in the spring. As a highly regarded player, he was a five-star prospect and ESPN's No. 2 overall prospect.
