**AerCap Pursues $2 Billion Claim for Jets Seized in Russia**

Aircraft lessors, led by AerCap Holdings NV, are seeking over $2 billion in a lawsuit against insurance companies, including units of AIG and Lloyd's, due to the seizure of aircraft in Russia. This case has commenced in a London court, highlighting the conflict over claims for hundreds of jets that remain stranded.

In the aftermath of the invasion of Ukraine and subsequent Western sanctions, Russia confiscated nearly 800 foreign-owned aircraft and transferred them to its national aircraft register. Consequently, lessors have been left grappling with substantial financial losses and are now demanding compensation from insurers.

Insurers, however, are attempting to delay these claims, prompting legal action from the lessors. AerCap alone reports substantial financial losses, with 116 jets caught in limbo within Russian borders. The unfolding legal battle in London could set a significant precedent in the aviation and insurance industries, as both sides present their arguments over these costly assets.
