Jonathan Joss, celebrated for his role as the voice of John Redcorn on the popular animated series "King of the Hill," was found dead at the scene of a fatal shooting. His death has stirred significant concern and sorrow across the entertainment industry and beyond.
Authorities have remained tight-lipped about the potential motive behind the attack. However, Joss’ husband, Tristian Kern de Gonzales, issued a statement suggesting that the actor was the victim of a homophobic hate crime. Gonzales recounted years of menacing threats and even an arson incident that ravaged their home in February, tragically killing their three dogs.
According to Gonzales, the couple had returned to their burned-down residence on Sunday to collect mail, which included a victim's fire fund check. It was during this visit that they discovered the skull of one of their deceased dogs, causing immense emotional distress. As the couple grieved, they were confronted by a man who allegedly shouted homophobic slurs before opening fire.
Gonzales shared that neither he nor Joss were armed or behaving threateningly. He detailed the heart-wrenching moment Joss heroically pushed him out of the line of fire, ultimately saving his life. "He saved my life," Gonzales wrote in his statement posted on Joss' Facebook page.
The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) reported that, thus far, their investigation has revealed no concrete evidence linking Joss' murder to his sexual orientation. They assured the public that the allegations are being taken very seriously and that any new evidence will lead to appropriate charges against the suspect.
Jonathan Joss was well-known for his recurring roles in hit series and films like "Parks and Recreation," "Tulsa King," "Ray Donovan," "True Grit," and "The Magnificent Seven." He had recently begun recording for the reboot of "King of the Hill," which is in production for Hulu and is slated for an August premiere.
The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing, with many hoping for justice and clearer answers as to the motive behind such a senseless act of violence.
