A startling incident unfolded on Monday at Orange Elementary School in Virginia, as a 6-year-old student was found in possession of a loaded firearm. The Orange County Sheriff's Office reported that the gun was discovered inside a backpack, leading to an immediate response from school officials and law enforcement.

According to the authorities, a staff member at the school promptly contacted the Orange County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer after making the alarming discovery at around 12:50 p.m. The school was placed in safe school mode as a precautionary measure, ensuring the safety of all students and staff on campus.

The school resource officer and a school administrator swiftly secured the firearm, effectively neutralizing any potential threat. The investigation revealed that it was an instructional assistant who first came across the weapon. Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident, and no threats were made by the young student.
