### 16-Year-Old Charged in North Austin Homicide

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred Monday night in north Austin, police reported. The victim, Ahsun Madison, also 16, was identified by the Austin Police Department (APD) on Wednesday.

Officers responded to multiple 911 calls around 8:20 p.m. Monday, reporting gunshots in the 9100 block of Northgate Boulevard. Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered Madison with apparent trauma injuries. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by APD officers, EMS, and the Austin Fire Department, Madison was pronounced dead at 9:01 p.m.

The suspect, also a 16-year-old male, was identified and apprehended by Austin Police Gang Detectives, who located him after he fled the scene. The teen has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently held at the Gardner Betts Juvenile Center. Due to his age, his identity has not been disclosed to the public.

According to police, the suspect had previously been involved in several shootings in the area, including one on January 8 in the 9300 block of Northgate Boulevard, which marked the fourth homicide of 2024. Although he was not the shooter in that case, he was present during the incident.

Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Austin Police Department or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.

This incident is recorded as Austin's 48th homicide of 2024.
