**12-Year-Old Boy Arrested After 160-Mile Joyride in Grandfather's Car**
A 12-year-old boy from Issaquah, Washington, was placed in police custody after allegedly stealing his grandfather’s car and driving a staggering 160 miles, authorities reported on Wednesday. This bold escapade has captured the attention of both local residents and law enforcement.
The incident began when the boy, whose identity remains undisclosed, reportedly took the vehicle from his grandfather’s home in Issaquah. Authorities were alerted due to the boy's "connection" to a town in Grant County, which is located on the eastern side of the state. As a result, Issaquah police pre-emptively notified Grant County deputies about the possibility of the boy heading in their direction.
In response, the Grant County Sheriff's Office Motor Traffic Unit initiated a search for the missing vehicle. At approximately 10:20 a.m., deputies located the car parked at a curbside. As they approached, the young driver attempted to evade capture, leading to a brief pursuit.
The chase concluded with a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver), where deputies managed to safely bring the vehicle to a stop. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the car sustained only minor damage.
The boy's journey spanned 161 miles, including a passage through the Cascade Mountains, a route detailed by the Seattle Times. He is currently held at the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center, facing charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and felony eluding.
This unusual case has raised questions about youth behavior, car security, and the measures necessary to prevent similar incidents in the future.
