Woman Killed, Multiple Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash near Western Michigan University Campus

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Tragedy struck near Western Michigan University's campus on Friday afternoon when a multi-vehicle crash claimed the life of a young woman and left three others injured.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) responded to the collision, which involved three vehicles, at the intersection of Stadium Drive and Meadow View Drive shortly after 12:15 p.m.
One of the occupants involved in the crash was rushed to a local hospital, where tragically they were later pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Audrey Hensley from Portage.
KDPS' extrication equipment had to be utilized to remove one of the other occupants, who was trapped inside their vehicle. Fortunately, two of the injured individuals suffered non-life-threatening injuries. However, one patient remains in critical condition at this time.
The authorities have not released any additional information, but KDPS disclosed in a statement that excessive speed is believed to have played a role in the tragic collision.
KDPS and Silent Observer are urging anyone with information regarding the crash to come forward and assist in the investigation.
