Article:
PORTLAND (WGME) - After a brief period of tranquility following a snowy start to the week, Mainers can expect another round of wintry weather as a powerful snowstorm is set to hit the state Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

According to the Weather Authority team, areas will begin to see precipitation Tuesday night, with the rain and snow line gradually shifting north throughout the night. Strong winds out of the southeast are expected, with the potential for damaging gusts, particularly in the early morning hours.

While the snow totals from the previous weekend's storm were significant, with Standish receiving 18 inches, the upcoming snowfall is expected to differ. Ski resorts, which missed out on the foot of snow from Sunday, can expect to benefit from this storm.

For the coastline and Down East Maine, the Weather Authority team is forecasting between a coating and 2 inches of snow. However, as the storm progresses into Wednesday morning, a switch to rain is expected, making significant additional snow accumulation unlikely for these areas.

In southern and western Maine, rainfall will be the primary form of precipitation, with totals ranging between 1 to 2 inches. Some parts of York county may even see higher rainfall amounts by the evening.

The impending storm has prompted residents to take advantage of Monday's pleasant weather for clean-up purposes after the heavy snowfall over the weekend. With highs lingering in the 30s and ample sunshine, it is an opportune time to clear driveways and walkways.

Mainers are advised to stay updated on the latest weather alerts and heed any warnings or advisories issued by local authorities. As the storm moves closer, it is important to prepare for potentially hazardous conditions, including reduced visibility and slippery roadways.

The Weather Authority team will continue to monitor the storm closely and provide timely updates regarding its progression. It is recommended that individuals stay tuned to local news and weather reports for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

As Mainers brace themselves for yet another wintry blast, the anticipation builds for the impact of this powerful snowstorm. Stay prepared, stay safe, and stay warm.
