Virginia State University Lifts Lockdown after Officer Shooting Incident

Virginia State University (VSU) was placed under a lockdown on Sunday, November 12, following a shooting incident involving a VSU Police officer. The lockdown was eventually lifted later that day.
At approximately 1:34 a.m., police received a report of a disturbance in the 3400 block of Boisseau Street, near the VSU campus. Upon arrival, they discovered that a VSU Police officer had been shot while investigating the incident.
The suspect quickly fled the scene and as of now, remains at large. Authorities have not provided any further details regarding the search for the suspect.
The injured officer, identified as 39-year-old Bruce Foster, was rushed to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Updates on his condition have not been released at this time.
As a precautionary measure, VSU announced a campus-wide lockdown at 7:29 a.m. on Sunday. The lockdown lasted until 12:06 p.m. when authorities deemed it safe to lift the restrictions.
