In a recent interview on "60 Minutes," Vice President Kamala Harris expressed confidence in President Biden's chances of winning reelection in 2024. The statement came after CBS' Bill Whitaker questioned why the Biden-Harris ticket was running neck and neck with former President Donald Trump in the polls, despite Trump's ongoing legal troubles.

When Whitaker asked why Biden was not leading by a wider margin, Harris responded, "Bill, we're going to win. Let me just tell you that. We're going to win. And I'm not saying it's going to be easy. But we will win." She emphasized that the choice would become clear when Americans cast their votes on Election Day next year.

Although some mainstream media pundits have raised questions about Biden being the strongest contender to face Trump in a rematch, both candidates currently remain close in the polls. The vice president acknowledged that it would be a competitive race but expressed her conviction in Biden's victory, stating, "I have no doubt, but I also have no doubt it's going to be a lot of work. And everyone's going to have to participate. This is a democracy."

During the interview, Harris was also asked about the administration's messaging and its reach to voters. She responded by emphasizing the need to continue reaching out to the American people and making their case effectively. When Whitaker mentioned CBS polling that indicated dwindling support for the president among younger voters, Harris pointed out that many of their policies, such as addressing climate change and student loan debt, were popular among the population. She attributed the disconnect to a lack of media coverage and the administration's challenge of letting people know about the tangible impact of their work.

However, Whitaker noted that Harris herself had faced lower approval ratings, with only 41% of adults approving of the job she is doing, a number similar to President Biden's approval rating. Despite this, Harris maintained her focus on the job at hand and affirmed that she was fully committed to the task, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming election and the future of democracy.

In response to Whitaker's question about concerns regarding her ability to step up if something happened to the president, Harris asserted that Biden was "very much alive" and running for reelection. She acknowledged the concerns raised by some Democrat donors but reiterated her determination to prioritize her current role and the responsibility of ensuring a successful reelection for President Biden.

As the 2024 election approaches, Vice President Harris remains steadfast in her belief that the Biden-Harris ticket will secure another term in the White House. With promises of hard work and active participation from all Americans, Harris is confident that they will emerge victorious in the democratic process.
