In a disturbing incident, a deputy US Marshal was detained by UK police on Tuesday after allegedly becoming disruptive and sexually abusing a woman during a Delta Airlines flight from JFK Airport to London. Authorities and a report confirmed the unsettling details of the incident.

According to the US Marshal's Service, the federal law enforcement officer displayed inappropriate behavior while under the influence of alcohol on the flight. The incident came to light when the flight landed at Heathrow Airport on Wednesday morning. The 39-year-old deputy marshal was subsequently arrested by the Metro Police in London on suspicion of sexual assault.

Reports indicate that airline staff alerted authorities about a disruptive passenger who had allegedly sexually assaulted both fellow passengers and crew members. The US Marshals Service assured cooperation with UK law enforcement officials during their ongoing investigation.

In a statement, the Marshals Service emphasized their commitment to addressing allegations of misconduct by their employees. They also stated that the alleged actions of the deputy marshal do not reflect the professionalism of the thousands of employees within the US Marshals Service.

A second deputy marshal was briefly detained but was subsequently released and sent home, according to a law enforcement official. The duo had originally been sent to London to retrieve a suspect when the federal officer was accused of sexually assaulting a woman during the flight. This information was disclosed by four law enforcement officials who spoke to NBC 4, which first reported the incident.

The woman who was allegedly assaulted by the deputy marshal lodged a complaint with the flight crew, citing inappropriate touching during the course of the flight.

Delta Airlines, in an official statement, confirmed their cooperation with the investigation. The airline described the incident as involving unruly passenger behavior during the flight and verified that upon landing, local law enforcement authorities met Delta Flight 1, JFK to London-Heathrow.

As the investigation unfolds, both the US Marshals Service and Delta Airlines will be closely scrutinized regarding their handling of the situation. Instances such as this serve to underscore the importance of maintaining professionalism and ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers while aboard commercial flights.

International cooperation between law enforcement agencies will remain essential in pursuing justice and ensuring the accountability of individuals responsible for such alleged misconduct.
