### Fertility Clinic Bomber's Co-Conspirator Arrested at JFK Airport
Federal authorities have detained a co-conspirator in connection with the car bombing outside a Palm Springs fertility clinic last month. Daniel Park has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to manufacture an unregistered device and terrorism. This arrest follows the death of the primary suspect, Guy Edward Bartkus, who was found dead near the exploded vehicle.
Daniel Park was arrested Tuesday night at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York after being detained in Poland on May 30. According to officials, Park supplied large quantities of ammonium nitrate to Bartkus for use in the bombing. This explosive precursor, commonly used in homemade bombs, was shipped from Seattle. Federal investigators have connected Park to approximately 270 pounds of ammonium nitrate involved in the plot.
Park reportedly spent time at Bartkus’ home earlier this year, from late January to early February. During this period, the two are believed to have conducted experiments related to the bombing. Investigators have already searched Park’s residence as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have revealed that the bombing targeted the fertility clinic due to nihilistic beliefs shared by both suspects. They intended to disrupt the creation of new life, officials said at a press conference. Park allegedly fled to Europe following the attack, although investigators do not believe he was in the Palm Springs area at the time of the bombing.
The American Reproductive Center of Palm Springs, the clinic targeted in the attack, confirmed that none of its staff were harmed and that their lab remained intact. However, the explosion did lead to injuries of at least four other individuals, a fire, and the collapse of a nearby building. The clinic has temporarily relocated across the street to continue its services without major interruptions.
As this investigation progresses, authorities are treating the incident as an intentional act of terrorism. Park is expected to appear in Brooklyn federal court before being transported to California to face charges. Prosecutors are requesting that he be held without release.
This story is still unfolding, and further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
