U.S. fighter jets were scrambled on Saturday to intercept a civilian aircraft that had breached restricted airspace near President Joe Biden's residence in Wilmington, Delaware, according to reports from POLITICO. The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. and resulted in the safe landing of the aircraft at a nearby airport.

Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the United States Secret Service, confirmed that as a precautionary measure, intercepting assets were deployed to ensure the safety of President Biden and the surrounding area. Fortunately, there were no disruptions to the president's schedule, and his movements were unaffected.

Guglielmi stated, "There were no impacts to the protectee's movements as a result of this incident and agents from the United States Secret Service are investigating in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration."

President Biden, who was in Wilmington over the weekend, attended church on Saturday evening following the incident. The Secret Service, along with the Federal Aviation Administration, is now conducting a thorough investigation into the breach of restricted airspace to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Instances of civilian aircraft entering restricted airspace near high-profile locations are taken very seriously due to the potential threat it poses to national security. The prompt response from U.S. fighter jets ensured that the situation was swiftly addressed and resolved without any harm.
