In a tragic turn of events, two teenagers have been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred at a Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City. The incident resulted in the death of one person and left 22 others injured.

According to a statement from the court, the suspects, both under 18 years of age, are being held on charges related to possessing a firearm and resisting arrest. Although a third person was initially detained, they have since been released. The investigation by the Kansas City Police Department is ongoing, and it is expected that additional charges will be filed in the future.

The names of the two juvenile suspects have not been made public due to Missouri law, which ensures that juvenile court cases remain private. Consequently, hearings related to this case will not be open to the public.

Kansas City Police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. The incident occurred near Union Station just after the parade and rally for the Super Bowl champions. The injured victims, who ranged in age from eight to 47 years old, included several children, with at least half of them being under 16 years old.

Among the victims were family members of Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves. Her son was shot in the leg but has been discharged from the hospital. According to a local radio station, two other family members were also injured in the shooting.

As more details emerge, it has been revealed that the crowd and the Kansas City Chiefs players responded bravely in the face of the chaos. One heartwarming incident involved a 13-year-old boy named Zach Cotton, who became separated from his father during the mayhem. Chiefs' running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and other team members provided shelter and comfort to Zach until he was reunited with his family. Zach's mother expressed her gratitude on Facebook, to which Edwards-Helaire responded by thanking Zach for trusting him and assuring him of his protection.

Another teenager, Gabe Wallace, recounted how the Chiefs' head coach offered solace to him and others amidst the panic that followed the shots being fired.

The city of Kansas is still reeling from the shooting, a tragic event that marred what should have been a celebration of their team's second consecutive NFL championship. As the investigation continues, authorities and citizens alike are hopeful that justice will be served and that steps can be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
