Two Dead, Two Injured in Southwest D.C. Shooting

In a tragic incident on Thursday, two individuals were killed and two others were hospitalized following a shooting in Southwest D.C. The incident occurred in front of the Friendly Food Market at the intersection of Half Street and O Street.
According to the police, the fatal shots were fired at approximately 11:45 a.m. Chief Pamela Smith of the DC Police revealed that it appeared a group of people were gathered in front of the corner store when an individual drove up and began shooting. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and it is unknown if there was any prior relationship between the involved parties.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as resembling a combat zone. The victims, all adults, included one woman and three men. Two of the victims were found unconscious at the scene, while the conditions of the other two individuals remain unknown.
The area where the incident occurred is merely blocks away from Nationals Park, adding to the shock and concern in the community. Reports state that police have issued an alert for a white 2016-2022 Jeep Cherokee with a sunroof, white rims, and tinted windows. The vehicle bears Maryland license plates with the number 2FD-0820.
Chief Smith revealed that the same vehicle was reported as carjacked from Blair Rd NW on Wednesday, though it is unclear if the same suspect was driving it during the shooting.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the suspect vehicle or the incident to contact the MPD at 202-727-9099 or submit a tip via text to 50411. The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement officials work to apprehend those responsible for the tragic shooting.
