In a scathing post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump criticized the Biden administration on Friday for conducting strikes against Houthi militants in Yemen. Trump also expressed his concerns over the controversy surrounding Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's recent hospitalization.

Trump questioned the decision to carry out the strikes, stating, "So, let me get this straight. We're dropping bombs all over the Middle East, AGAIN (where I defeated ISIS!), and our Secretary of Defense, who just went missing for five days, is running the war from his laptop in a hospital room."

Defense Secretary Austin had been hospitalized on January 1 due to complications from a procedure to treat prostate cancer. Notably, the Pentagon failed to inform top U.S. officials, including President Joe Biden, about Austin's cancer diagnosis.

While Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks assumed the role for three days in early January, Austin has resumed his duties since then. However, concerns were raised regarding the decision-making process during Austin's hospitalization.

Trump further criticized the Biden administration for its handling of the situation. He echoed the sentiments of lawmakers who argued that the Houthi strikes should have required congressional approval, sparking controversy and debates surrounding the administration's decision-making authority.

Fellow GOP presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, on the other hand, defended Biden's actions, stating that bypassing Congress didn't violate the constitution, according to Florida Politics.

The tensions surrounding the Middle East escalation and the controversy regarding Defense Secretary Austin's health have heightened political discussions, drawing attention to the Biden administration's decision-making processes and accountability.

As the leading GOP presidential candidate, Trump's remarks reflect growing concerns and criticisms leveled against the Biden administration regarding its military actions and transparency in informing top officials about critical matters.

It remains to be seen how the Biden administration will address the mounting critiques and whether it will provide a clearer framework for decision-making and communication in instances of national security and significant health issues affecting key officials.
