The filing stated that as a direct consequence of Trump's previous remarks, Justice Arthur Engoron and his staff had been "inundated" with hundreds of "serious and credible" threats, including antisemitic messages.

In what can only be described as an ill-timed and unsettling "Happy Thanksgiving" post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump once again unleashed a barrage of insults. He referred to the Attorney General of New York State, Letitia James, as "the Racist & Incompetent Attorney General of New York State, Letitia 'Peekaboo' James," while labelling Justice Arthur Engoron, the judge presiding over his trial, as a "Radical Left Trump Hating Judge, a 'Psycho'." Trump also targeted Alison Greenfield, the court clerk, accusing her of being "Politically Biased & Corrupt Campaign Finance Violator."

The court had earlier highlighted that Trump's violation of the gag order placed on him led to an alarming increase in threats towards Justice Engoron and his staff. According to the court filing supporting the judge's opposition to pausing the gag order, "When Mr. Trump violated the gag orders, the number of threatening, harassing, and disparaging messages increased." The threats, which came through phone calls, text messages, emails, and social media, were particularly disturbing in nature. Transcriptions of voicemails alone formed a staggering 275-page document, delivered to Judge Engoron's law clerk.

Trump's attorneys, however, dismissed the threats as "irrelevant" to the conditions of the gag order.
