In an intense incident on Monday, a Trotwood police officer and a suspect were both hospitalized after a pursuit and shooting on US 35. The developments of the event were covered extensively by News Center 7, providing details across multiple crime scenes.

The incident began at approximately 10:54 a.m. when Trotwood police were called to Voyager Village mobile home park in response to a pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim who had been struck by the suspect's vehicle. As emergency crews attended to the injured victim, the suspect recklessly sped past the police, brandishing what was described as a "long weapon."

Trotwood officers immediately initiated a pursuit in an attempt to apprehend the suspect, who proceeded to drive eastward onto Third Street and US 35, dangerously swerving into oncoming traffic. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, multiple law enforcement agencies joined the pursuit and deployed stop-sticks in an effort to disable the suspect's vehicle.

However, the suspect made a surprising U-turn at Abbey Avenue, continuing westward on US 35. During this time, the suspect began firing at the pursuing officers while still in motion. The situation escalated further when the suspect disregarded traffic rules and collided head-on with a Trotwood Police cruiser and a Montgomery County Sheriff's vehicle at the Liscum Drive and US 35 intersection.

In response to the suspect's aggression, law enforcement officers fired multiple shots, eventually bringing the suspect into custody. He was subsequently transported to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. The condition of the suspect remains unknown at this time.

Photographs provided by witnesses depicted a Trotwood police cruiser partially lodged beneath a pickup truck that appeared to have sustained bullet damage.

Unfortunately, the Trotwood police officer who was in the cruiser involved in the collision also sustained injuries and was transported to Miami Valley Hospital for medical attention. The current condition of the injured officer has not been disclosed.

In light of the incident's severity, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has taken over the investigation, assuming responsibility for further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the pursuit, shooting, and crash on US 35.

News Center 7 will continue to monitor this developing story closely, providing updates as more information becomes available regarding the conditions of both the suspect and the injured police officer.
