Memphis, Tennessee - The city of Memphis was plunged into shock and mourning as a suspect involved in a series of shootings was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Sunday. The incident resulted in the tragic deaths of four female relatives and left one person critically injured.

The suspect, identified as 52-year-old Mavis Christian Jr., was discovered deceased in his car during an extensive manhunt conducted by the Memphis Police Department. The shootings occurred at three different locations in Memphis and claimed the lives of three women and a teenage girl, while critically injuring another teenage girl.

Authorities have confirmed that Christian was related to the victims, although they were unable to specify the exact nature of the relationship. At this time, the identities of the victims have not been released.

Expressing their condolences, the Memphis Police Department issued a statement on social media saying, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic and senseless shootings... Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their loved ones as our community grieves more lives taken by domestic violence."

Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn "CJ" Davis addressed the shocking incident, stating, "Incidents like these shake us all to our core." The motive behind the shootings remains unknown.

Melvin Christian, the suspect's uncle, revealed that he had not seen Mavis in years and had no knowledge of what may have triggered the violent outburst. When informed of the devastating toll, Melvin Christian expressed his disbelief, saying, "Oh Lord."

The first reported shooting took place at around 9:22 p.m. on Saturday at the 100 Block of Howard Drive. A woman was found at the scene with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead by authorities.

Further investigations revealed two additional fatal shootings connected to the suspect. At Field Lark Drive, a woman and a 13-year-old girl were tragically killed, while a 15-year-old girl was left in critical condition. Another woman was found fatally shot on Warrington Road, as confirmed by Memphis Police Officer Christopher Williams.

Following the discovery of the shootings, a search was initiated involving multiple law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. Ultimately, the suspect, Mavis Christian Jr., was located dead, apparently having taken his own life.

The city of Memphis now grapples with the heart-wrenching loss of four innocent family members and the critical condition of another victim, all victims of domestic violence. As the community mourns, investigations continue into the motives and circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
