In a devastating incident that unfolded in Brooklyn on Friday morning, a baby boy was reportedly burned to death by a malfunctioning radiator, according to law enforcement sources. The tragic incident took place in an apartment on East 14th Street, where authorities responded shortly after 6 a.m.

Upon arrival, police discovered the 11-month-old child in a bedroom, suffering critical burns from a heating furnace that was leaking steam. The radiator is believed to have malfunctioned, resulting in a dangerous amount of steam being emitted. The law enforcement sources revealed that the baby was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead.

As a precautionary measure, one-month-old twins who were also present in the Midwood home were taken to the hospital. Their condition remains undisclosed at this time.

This heartbreaking incident brings to mind a similar tragedy that occurred in 2017, where two young sisters lost their lives due to burns caused by a faulty radiator in their Bronx apartment. The law enforcement sources at the time described how the malfunction turned the apartment into a "steam room." Ibanez Ambrose, aged 2, and her little sister, Scylee, just 1 year old, succumbed to the heinous burns.

Authorities suspect that the malfunctioning radiator's valve may have been the cause of this recent tragedy in Brooklyn. It is a grim reminder of the potential danger posed by faulty heating systems.

The incident is currently under investigation by the New York Police Department, and further details regarding the specific circumstances are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family during this unimaginable tragedy.

Such incidents serve as reminders of the importance of regular maintenance and inspection of heating systems, particularly during the winter months when they are extensively utilized to combat the cold. It is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals, especially infants and young children, within our homes.
