Dover, Massachusetts - A harrowing incident of domestic violence unfolded on Thursday, resulting in the untimely deaths of an 18-year-old college student, her mother, and her father. The tragedy occurred at their family mansion, known as "Enchanted Acres," located at 8 Wilson's Way. Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey provided an update during a press briefing outside the Dover police station on Friday, shedding light on the devastating turn of events.
Authorities responded to a distress call just before 7:25 p.m. after a relative visited the residence to check on the victims. The deceased have been identified as Teena Kamal, aged 54, her daughter Arianna Kamal, a student at Middlebury College, and Rakesh Kamal, aged 57. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless bodies and a gun near Rakesh Kamal. Investigators have not found any signs of a break-in, leading them to believe that no one else was involved in the triple homicide.
According to Morrissey, the local police had no prior interactions with the Kamal family, making this incident all the more shocking. Details regarding the specific location where the victims were found and the ownership of the gun were not divulged by officials. Authorities emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and the cause and manner of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
The gated community of Wilson's Way, where the family resided, is characterized by its serene, tree-lined streets and well-maintained estates. Residents were taken aback by the tragedy and expressed their condolences to the Kamal family. Morrissey extended his sympathy towards the family, stating, "This is very unfortunate, and our heart goes out to the entire Kamal family over this terrible tragedy."
Rakesh and Teena Kamal held prominent positions at EduNova, an education technology company, where Rakesh served as the president and Teena as the chief operating officer. The Marlborough-based company focused on a "student success system" aimed at enhancing academic performance from middle school to college. Prior to his work at EduNova, Rakesh Kamal held executive roles in the education consulting industry. Teena Kamal had notable achievements, including her contributions to Boston-based Fidelity Investments, Aegis Software Corp, and EMC Corporation. Both had connections with Harvard University, with Teena being an alumna of the esteemed institution.
Arianna Kamal, the daughter, was pursuing her studies at Middlebury College. She recently graduated from Milton Academy, receiving recognition for her academic achievements. Arianna was known for her dedication to helping others, tutoring students, organizing blood drives, and volunteering with immigrant children. The Milton Academy community mourned the loss of Arianna and her parents, highlighting their positive impact within the school.
The Kamal family's residence at 8 Wilson's Way, assessed at $6.79 million, hints at their affluent lifestyle. As investigators went about their work, the neighborhood remained calm and quiet, with residents grappling to comprehend the tragedy that transpired.
Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey addressed the community, urging them to offer their support and prayers for the Kamal family. He emphasized the need to combat domestic violence and encouraged those affected by such circumstances to seek help from resources like the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the Massachusetts Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Hotline.
