Bobby Jean Carter, the sister of famous musicians Nick and Aaron Carter, has passed away at the age of 41, with new details emerging about the circumstances surrounding her tragic death. The Hillsborough Sheriff's Department confirmed that Carter was found "unresponsive" in the bathroom of her Florida home.
According to the statement provided by the Hillsborough County Fire rescue crews, they were called to Carter's Tampa home on December 23, 2023. She was immediately rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where she was pronounced dead at 8:02 a.m. by the hospital medical staff.
In response to the incident, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies have initiated a death investigation. Authorities revealed that Carter was on probation for cocaine possession, but her roommate mentioned that she hadn't used any narcotics since her release from prison. Deputies did not find any narcotics or personal paraphernalia in her room or bathroom, and there were no apparent signs of foul play.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office also confirmed that a medical examiner's office has been notified and will assist in determining the cause of Carter's death.
It is worth noting that Carter had previous encounters with the law. In June of last year, she was arrested for theft and possession of a controlled substance, as reported by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
Representatives for the Carter family have not yet responded to requests for comment from Fox News Digital regarding this tragic event.
This devastating loss comes just over a year after the death of Bobbie Jean's brother, Aaron Carter. Aaron was found dead in a bathtub in his Lancaster, California, home on November 5, 2022. The musician's cause of death was determined to be drowning, with difluoroethane and alprazolam listed as contributing factors. Difluoroethane, commonly found in aerosol propellants, and alprazolam, a drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorders, were discovered in his system.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, Aaron's housekeeper discovered him submerged in the bathtub and called 911. Despite efforts to revive him, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene at 11:14 a.m. The coroner ruled his death as an accident.
The Carter family now faces another heartbreaking loss as the cause of Bobbie Jean's death is being investigated. The music industry and fans alike mourn the tragic deaths of the siblings and offer their condolences to the Carter family during this difficult time.
