Tragic Accident Claims the Life of Local Teacher and Pastor's Son in South Carolina

In a devastating turn of events, a 22-year-old man was fatally shot in an accidental incident in Abbeville County, South Carolina. The young man, identified as Michael Alexander McMinn, was not only a beloved teacher but also the son of a local pastor, according to statements provided by the school and the church.
The Abbeville County Sheriff's Office received a distress call at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, reporting a gunshot wound at a residence on Keowee Road. Captain Matthew Graham stated that upon their arrival, deputies found McMinn in the bedroom, having sustained a single gunshot wound.
McMinn was immediately airlifted to Greenville Memorial for emergency medical treatment. Tragically, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Authorities determined that the incident was an unfortunate mishap during a family gathering. It was revealed that a family member, who serves as a firefighter in Abbeville County, had unintentionally discharged a newly acquired firearm, resulting in the bullet striking McMinn.

It was also revealed that McMinn was an esteemed member of the education community, serving as a physical education instructor at Belton Preparatory Academy. The school took to Facebook to express their sorrow and cancel classes for the day. However, they stated that classes would resume on Thursday, with counselors available to provide support to both students and staff during this difficult time.
