A top aide to Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has joined former President Donald Trump's campaign, sources familiar with the move have confirmed.
Brian Swensen, who served as the national political director for the Ramaswamy campaign, formally resigned over the weekend and has now joined the Trump campaign, a source familiar with his departure told CNN. Swensen is expected to work on the campaign's political operation in the early-voting state of Nevada, specifically.
Swensen's departure is seen as a blow to Ramaswamy's campaign, which has been struggling to gain momentum despite aligning closely with Trump, who is currently the front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination. This comes on the heels of the recent departure of Brandon Goodyear, the Ramaswamy team's videographer, according to a source familiar with the matter.
Tricia McLaughlin, a spokesperson for the Ramaswamy campaign, expressed gratitude to Swensen for his work and wished him well in his future endeavors. She also noted that Swensen's responsibilities in handling Ramaswamy's political operations in New Hampshire will now be overseen by senior adviser Mike Biundo.
The news of Swensen's move to the Trump campaign was first reported by The Messenger, a media outlet.
