Martha Parry, 86, a resident of 2647 Pagoda Drive, was among the victims. The other victims include Mary Ellen Pender, 54, from Treasure Island, who was visiting Parry's mobile home at the time of the incident. The pilot of the aircraft, Jemin Patel, 54, a licensed pilot from Melbourne Beach, also perished in the crash.

The single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza V35, owned by Control Data Inc., based in Indianapolis, Indiana, had taken off from Vero Beach approximately an hour before the fateful event. Aviation records confirm that Patel was listed as the owner of the plane.

According to officials, the tragedy occurred just as most of the approximately 10 occupants of the mobile home had left, following a day of golfing. Unfortunately, the plane suffered engine failure, leading to the crash that resulted in several fatalities. The crash ignited a fire, which destroyed Parry's mobile home and caused damage to adjacent properties.

Mary Ellen Pender had joined her friends for a day of golfing and had stayed behind at Parry's home to assist with the cleanup. Described as a retired nurse from Queens, New York, Pender and her husband, Bobby Dixon, were snowbirds splitting their time between Florida and Connecticut.
