In a significant development, the FBI has apprehended three Florida residents on the third anniversary of their alleged involvement in the attack on Capitol police officers during the infamous January 6, 2021, insurrection. The arrested individuals have been identified as Jonathan D. Pollock, 24, his sister Olivia M. Pollock, 33, and Joseph D. Hutchinson, 27.
According to the FBI's statement, the arrest took place at a ranch in Groveland, Florida. The trio will be arraigned on Monday. Groveland, located approximately 30 miles west of Orlando, is also about 45 miles north of the suspects' Lakeland residences.
Jonathan Pollock, who had gone into hiding soon after the attack, is accused of various offenses captured on video recordings, including repeatedly punching officers during the riots. He is also alleged to have seized riot shields from law enforcement personnel. Pollock, along with Hutchinson, is further charged with using the edge of a riot shield to strike an officer in the neck or face.
Olivia Pollock, on the other hand, faces charges of assaulting an officer through punches and elbow strikes, as well as attempted seizure of officers' batons.
All three individuals have been indicted since April 2021. While Olivia Pollock and Hutchinson had been previously arrested in June 2021, they had absconded shortly before their trial was scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C. in March.
The trio is collectively indicted with multiple charges, including assaulting officers, violent entry into the Capitol, and other felony offenses. At present, there are no listed attorneys for the defendants in court records.
Attempts to contact Rapture Guns & Knives, the Lakeland store owned by the Pollock family and where Hutchinson was once employed, proved unsuccessful as no one responded to the phone message left on Saturday.
The Pollocks' brother, Gabriel, had previously defended his siblings and Hutchinson in an interview with The Ledger, Lakeland's local newspaper, in June 2021.
As the legal proceedings continue, authorities are striving to hold all individuals accountable for their alleged roles in the Capitol attack. The arrests on the third anniversary of the insurrection serve as a striking reminder of the ongoing efforts to ensure justice is served.
