In a continuing clash between the Texas National Guard and the Biden administration, White House officials have declined to comment on whether President Biden has considered federalizing the Guard. The dispute arose after Texas Governor Greg Abbott deployed the Guard to block U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents from accessing certain areas along the U.S.-Mexico border.

During a brief interaction with reporters aboard Air Force One, White House National Security Adviser John Kirby dodged questions regarding the potential federalization of the Texas National Guard.

The issue gained further attention when Representative Joaquin Castro, a Democrat from Texas, called on Biden to take control of the National Guard after Governor Abbott showed no signs of backing down. Castro alleged that Abbott was using the Guard to obstruct and create chaos at the border, following the Supreme Court ruling.

Governor Abbott, in a fiery statement invoking the American Founding Fathers, accused President Biden of refusing to enforce federal laws and violating them. Abbott emphasized that the executive branch has a constitutional duty to protect states and enforce immigration laws, which he believes Biden has failed to do.

The conflict between Abbott and the Biden administration has extended to various legal battles. The state of Texas has filed lawsuits against the administration, contesting the seizure of Shelby Park near Eagle Pass, the removal of razor wire on the Rio Grande, and the establishment of buoys on the river.

With tensions escalating, the question of federalizing the Texas National Guard remains unresolved. The White House's refusal to comment on the matter suggests that considerations may indeed be underway. As the dispute continues, the focus shifts to the impact these actions will have on border control and the relationship between the state of Texas and the federal government.

The clash between Governor Abbott and the Biden administration highlights the ongoing challenges and complexities surrounding immigration policy and border security. It remains to be seen how this conflict will be resolved and what implications it will have for the nation as a whole.
