In a shocking turn of events, eight teenagers have been arrested in connection with the brutal beating and subsequent death of Las Vegas high school student Jonathan Lewis, 17. However, the family of one of the arrested teens vehemently denies his involvement, stating that he is a "good boy" who has "never been in any trouble."
Treavion Randolph, who recently celebrated his 16th birthday, now faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the November 7 attack that left Lewis with fatal brain injuries. The assault, which was captured on video and shared widely on TikTok, showed a group of boys attacking Lewis while he desperately tried to shield himself.
In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Treavion's step-grandmother, Andrea Corsey, expressed the family's devastation over Lewis' death and Treavion's subsequent arrest. She stated, "Everybody is devastated by what they say he's done." Treavion's family claims that he does not appear in the viral video and questions how he was specifically identified.
Treavion, along with three other suspects identified as Dontral Beaver, Gianni Robinson, and Damien Hernandez, has been transferred to the adult justice system after being arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail on November 16. They made their initial court appearance on November 17 and are expected to enter a plea of not guilty at their upcoming hearing.
Four younger suspects, aged between 13 and 15, have also been arrested and are currently held in the juvenile system. A hearing scheduled for December 6 will determine whether they will be named and transferred to the adult justice system.
The fight that led to Lewis' tragic death allegedly stemmed from the theft of wireless headphones and a possible vape pen from friends of the victim. Lewis stood up for a smaller friend who had been robbed, making him a target for the group of bullies, as stated on a GoFundMe page set up by Lewis' family.
As investigations continue, Las Vegas police are still searching for two additional suspects. All eight teenagers currently in custody could face life imprisonment if found guilty of the brutal murder.
It is worth noting that Treavion's father, Lovell Randolph Jr, has a lengthy criminal history and is currently serving a five-year sentence for use of a deadly weapon. However, Treavion's family insists that he is a dedicated student and a "good boy."
The tragic incident has left the community in shock and has sparked debates about youth violence and the need for stronger anti-bullying measures. Jonathan Lewis' untimely death serves as a painful reminder of the consequences of senseless violence among young people.
The court proceedings and investigation into the case will continue in the following weeks, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the horrific beating and the individuals responsible for the tragic loss of Jonathan Lewis' life.
