Storm Triggers Multiple Road Closures across San Diego County

[San Diego, January 22, 2024] - The recent stormy weather conditions have caused extensive road closures in various cities and neighborhoods across San Diego County. As of 2:25 p.m., several areas have been affected by flooding, leading to significant disruptions in daily commutes.

In Alpine, Via Viejas Rd. is currently closed between Calle de Pescadores and Palo Danzante due to flooding. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

Carlsbad is also experiencing road closures, with at least two lanes closed on northbound I-5 at Palomar Airport Road. This closure is causing additional traffic congestion in the area.

Oceanside is experiencing closures in both directions of SR-78 at El Camino Real. Drivers should find alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.

Poway residents should be aware of the closure of westbound Twin Peaks Rd. from Ted Williams Pkwy. to Pomerado Rd. until further notice.

In San Diego, several areas are affected by road closures, including the northbound lanes of SR-15 at the transition to I-5 in Logan Heights. Northbound SR-15 is also closed just south of Ocean View Blvd. in Mountain View.

In downtown San Diego, multiple locations are off-limits to the public due to flooding. These include N. Harbor Dr. at Laurel St., Pacific Hwy at Laurel St., Shelter Island at Anchorage Lane, and Pacific Hwy between Broadway and Laurel St.

Additional closures in San Diego are reported on Avenida del Rio between Riverwalk Drive and Camino de La Reina, Camino de la Reina between Camino de la Siesta and Avenida del Rio, Mission Road between Fairmount Ave. and Caminito Yucatan, Mission Center Road between Hazard Center Drive and Camino De La Reina, Hazard Center Drive between Avenida Del Rio and DoubleTree Hotel roundabout, Camino Del Esta between Station Village Lane and Camino De La Reina, and Ward Road at Camino Del Rio North.

Furthermore, Spring Valley residents are advised to avoid Broadview Street from Elkelton Blvd. to Noeline Ave.
